the man they can't touch

they can’t touch that man

Einstein, dear Einstein

After you died they cut out your brain and saved it to study it

They are looking for that file where you had put your genius

For the drawer where you kept your gun

They are looking for your Smart so that they can eat it.

There is an article today in the BBC magazine, about what makes a genius.

The academia that sent you away when you were alive

That failed you in school when you were young

That looked past you when you sat on the bench by the frozen lake

Speaking about the world

And laughing

With your friend at university

Who didn’t understand a thing you said when you were chatting in the cafeteria

That didn’t listen

They are listing your genius

There is a picture here of you, with your eyes smiling and your face happy

Haahahhahahaah!

I laugh too

Regarding Uncertainty - a love poem for Aki Remally

I come in every day to see you
And she watches me from the side.
I sit, you sit, we speak, but from a distance
Because she sits between us.

She is a space that we cannot cross
A distance that you don’t reach past
A box that you do not lift

She takes up room
But not all the room.
I see you when you look out from behind
I catch you when you throw across a line
And I like it, I like you.

She moans and she repeats her tale.
She is boring and she is a bother
Will you leave her and come out into the clear?
I hope that you will.
